December 27th & 28th

Sorry everyone, I realize that I'm sort of falling down of my jobbut I've really been enjoying my down time not only have I been able to get some reading done but I've been working on a new knitting project as well.

Tuesday was a beautiful day and we spent part of the day in the pool as well as enjoyed some of the local fine dining.  We had breakfast at the Banana Cafe ( http://www.banana-cafe-key-west.com) a yummy french influenced restaurant.  We were eating on the upstairs deck when Jim noticed the woman at the table behind us was wearing a Muirfield tourney hat and of course I think had to talk to them and it turned out they were from Delaware, Ohio (just a stones throw north of Dublin) and they have been coming here they past 8 years for Christmas so they shared some of their favorite spots. They also shared that last year was unseasonably chilly (highs in the 60's!) so its been really beautiful with highs around 80 (more on that later).

We had a delightful dinner at A & B Lobster House(http://www.aandblobsterhouse.com) and dined overlooking the marina.  Our waiter Gregory was originally from Layfayette, Indiana but has been here a long time and only visits home in the warm weather (we hear a lot of that down here).

Walking back from dinner we encountered this very "festive" house and I couldn't stop myself from snapping a pic "its even more impressive(tacky) in person!

Later that evening we had some rain showers which did in fact bring some cooler temps yesterday.  It was only 71 degrees and bit windy but we still had a very nice day.  We had lunch on the beach at Salute on the Beach (http://saluteonthebeach.com) and it was quite good and so was the Margarita which was made with freshly squeezed lime (none of that premixed stuff).

As you can see people were still enjoying the beach!

as well as the gypsy chickens too...

people really love riding their bicycles down here
I found this one very intriguing
We then shared a very big piece of Key Lime Pie with mile high meringue which is supposedly the best on the island (but every restaurant claims this) however it was pretty outstanding!
Last night we returned to dinner at Latitudes on Sunset Key and I was pretty sneaky, while we were waiting for our boat I was ninja photographer and snapped a couple of pictures of Jim and Bailey sitting on a bench watching a cruise ship leave.

I also took a couple of pictures of the lights on the palm trees on sunset key, but as usual I don't have the worlds best camera and it was dark so it is what it is....

Jim and I are off to look at some possible homes for retirement (just preliminarily we are not buying right now).  We love the very mild winter weather and for those of you who know me, you are well aware at how much I hate winter.  Talk with you soon... Have a wonderful day!
